Syed says: "If individuals are to have their crypto assets taken off them before they are charged with any offence - or even arrested - it is hard to see this approach as anything more than an asset grab powered by a presumption of guilt without any evidence being produced."
He adds: "While it is unsurprising to see this approach now being taken to the crypto world, there is the fear that the authorities could use this power as a means of carrying out what may amount – in some cases at least – to unjustified (yet legal) seizure."
